This is a more complete update of an earlier Open Gardens post with new material from the allotments; thanks to Peter Noakes for putting these collages together.
The West Bergholt Open Gardens has been a biennial event since 2014 and has raised thousands of pounds for local charities. This year it didn’t happen for obvious reasons, but the plan is it will return next year. We would like to share a few photos of the gardens & allotments that were due to be open on 28th June. Hopefully you will find them uplifting and will encourage you to join in next year. Gardens and donkeys are further down so keep scrolling!
Upset residents, including key workers, are increasingly calling CBC about noise levels from neighbouring properties. The increase comes as more and more families respond to Government advise to stay home.
BBC Essex Radio runs a regular show called Essex Quest and a recent episode saw them visiting West Bergholt. The episode which aired on 16th June (still available to hear online until approx 11th July), was on the topic of Cricket, Foraging & Grow Your Own. It saw the team of Eric Dixon, Liana Bridges and Barry Lewis have 3 hours to find 4 mystery places around Essex based on cryptic clues.
The West Bergholt ‘allotmenteers‘ showed how to grow money for local causes as they raised £4,087 last year. Their charity stall will be hoping to raise even more in 2019 when local causes benefitting will include:
Five “T’s” Fellowship.
The stall is now open pretty much all year round so make a point of looking out for what’s available,

Allotments announce 2018 beneficiaries of charity table
At their recent meeting, the Allotment Committee discussed a range of issues including who should be the 2018 beneficiaries of sales from their charity table. Last year they raised well over £4,000, over twice the previous year’s result, and would love to see even more this year.
